Musin’ with Susan 12/1/20 – 2020 Vision – Kintsugi

“You can train your mind by analyzing the shortcomings of anger as well as from other people’s experiences. It is also useful to look at history. Whenever I examine human tragedy, I find that in most cases it is the result of human behavior – negative emotions, such as anger, hatred, jealousy and extreme greed. All good things that are constructive, happier human experiences, are mostly motivated by respect for others’ rights and concern for others’ well-being – compassion, love and kindness.

“Whoever excludes others will find himself excluded in turn. Those who affirm that their God is the only God, are doing something dangerous and pernicious, because they are on the way to imposing their beliefs on others, by any means possible.

“Anger and hatred cannot bring harmony. The noble task of arms control and disarmament cannot be accomplished by confrontation and condemnation. Hostile attitudes only serve to heat up the situation, whereas a true sense of respect gradually cools down what otherwise could become explosive. We must recognize the frequent contradictions between short-term benefit and long-term harm.”     The Dalai Lama

My vision for the rest of 2020 and all of 2021 and all time after that is that we remember the lessons we’ve learned this year, simple and profound ones about the importance of taking care of ourselves and each other—as the Dalai Lama said, “respect for others’ rights and concern for others’ well-being – compassion, love and kindness”—and put them to use in our personal lives and our social lives and our political lives.

I believe life is a practice. I haven’t perfected any part of it yet, except being simply who I am, so I continue to practice what I know to be true, that we are all one. I am a part of you just as you are a part of me. We’re made of the stuff of the stars.

2020 has been a year of change on this planet, change that can carry depth and weight if we choose to let it.

My final 2020 Vision is that we repair with gold what has been broken in us, on our planet, that we become more beautiful and in turn create a more beautiful place here.

Everyone, please stay safe and be your best self. I know we’ll all recognize each other as our golden repairs shimmer around us.
